Why do we have to prove it’s cheaper to house homeless people, disabled people, and mentally ill people, instead of just being like: yeah it’s fucked up that we’re letting people live in the streets/die in the streets when we can easily house them?
We’re saying we don’t give a shit about basic human rights unless we can prove we can make money off of upholding them? What the fuck.
Apparently human rights are only useful if they’re profitable–and still yet we refuse to uphold them anyway, lmao.
We’d rather pay more for people to die than pay less for people to live. So even if we couldn’t prove that housing people was easier than letting them die how could anyone make the argument it’s because it’s just costly. We clearly don’t give a shit about costly.
