your dog needs meat and your kids need vaccines. end of discussion.

Also your dog needs vaccines and your kids need meat.

Also your meat needs vaccines and your kids need dogs.

what these are all true

kids don’t need meat….but if you’re not going to do proper research then just give them meat

no, kids need meat, adapting to an omnivorous diet as an adult after being raised vegetarian is painful and difficult and that isn’t something you should inflict on a person without their consent - which, uh, children can’t give.

vegetarianism and veganism are choices for adults to make, not things to inflict on your children who can’t understand the complex moral and health-related issues going on

I agree so much, but if a child chooses to become a vegetarian of their own accord and does their research, talks it over with their parents/guardian, I don’t think it’s up to an adult to force meat on them. I had and still have a lot of food anxiety and disordered eating (thank you, mental illness) and am really funny about meat, I was even worse as a kid. I went through a few periods of being a veggie from the age of four onwards and it made my life a lot easier when I did because they couldn’t go against it if I was making a “stand”.

But yup, FORCING any kind of diet on a child is cruel and abhorrent. No child should have to be physically forced to eat a certain way based on parents’ ideals/laziness because that will fuck them up for LIFE, both physically and mentally. Even just thinking back to being forced to eat chicken casserole as a kid makes me feel panicky two decades later.

yeah i agree 100%, should have worded that better. kids should have body autonomy unless they want to do something seriously harmful & being forced to eat things you are uncomfortable with isn’t ok

Also don’t make a kid eat meat if they don’t like it. I have met two year olds who don’t like meat much. One of them only likes chicken and the other would eat everything on their plate except the meat.
